Community Rules

Cañon City Times is a community forum for residents of and visitors to Cañon City, Colorado. Keep it useful and keep it kind. Moderators enforce these rules at their discretion.

1. Be civil

Disagree all you want, but no personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or threats. Attack ideas, not people.

2. Crime & safety: report, don’t accuse

You may share safety alerts and describe what you witnessed. You may not name, photograph, or identify a private individual as a criminal or suspect without a credible public source (for example an official police report or a news story). Do not organize or encourage vigilantism or retaliation. If you witnessed a crime, report it to law enforcement — this forum is not a substitute for the police.

3. No doxxing or personal information

Don’t post anyone’s home address, phone number, workplace, license plate, or other private details — yours or anyone else’s.

4. Keep it legal

No illegal content, no incitement of violence, no defamation. Don’t post content you don’t have the right to share.

5. Politics

Local civic debate is welcome. Focus on issues and policies, not on tearing down your neighbors.

6. Marketplace

No scams or counterfeit goods. Meet in a safe, public place for exchanges. Cañon City Times is not a party to and is not responsible for any transaction between members.

7. No spam

No bulk advertising, repetitive self-promotion, or bots. New accounts have limited posting of links to keep spam out.

Reporting & enforcement

Use the Report link on any post to flag it. Moderators may remove content, lock threads, and suspend accounts. Posts are the opinions of their authors and do not represent Cañon City Times.
